In addition to everyday opportunities for hiking, boating and touring, the Schoodic region hosts several festivals during the summer:

  • July 28, Fourth Saturday in July www.franklinmaine.com Franklin Family Fun Day Come join us for a day of old fashioned fun in Franklin! There will be a watermelon eating contest, bake-offs, sack races, craft fair, games for everyone and so much more! Admission is free. For a small fee you can enjoy some down home cooking at the famous chicken barbecue.

  • TBA, (Non-Stop for two weeks in early August) Schoodic Arts for All Festival 2007 www.schoodicarts.org Two weeks of activities including a Silent Auction, Workshops, Evening performances, noon time performances, an Art Show and much much more.   • TBA (second Saturday in August), The Winter Harbor Lobster Festival draws a large crowd of spectators. It is a fun-filled day with many scheduled events. Start off the day with a blueberry pancake breakfast, then watch the ever popular lobster boat races, with 13 classes rated by size and power. Shop at the craft fair with 80 exhibitors, eat a Maine lobster dinner and stay for the evening parade! Information available at www.acadia-schoodic.org (Schoodic Area Chamber of Commerce)
  • TBA, Sullivan Daze Sullivan's All-day festival is put on by the volunteer firefighters of Sullivan and Sorrento to celebrate community pride and to help raise money for the Volunteer Fire Department.
  • Farmstead Barn – East Sullivan, Maine www.hcfafarmsteadbarn.org
    The Hancock County Friends of the Arts announces the 38th season of the Farmstead Barn this summer. The old barn on Route 1 in East Sullivan welcomes hundreds of children every July with its free shows. This season we'll have juggling, comedy, music, mime, and magic, all beginning in July.

    All shows are at 9:30, and 11:00. Admission is free. Donations are welcome. For more information, call (207) 422-3615. Groups planning to attend should call in advance. The Barn is located on Route 1 in East Sullivan. It is 15 miles north of Ellsworth and 3 miles south of the Gouldsboro Post Office.
